GCAA Announces the recovery of Digital Flight Data Recorder From UPS6 Boeing 747 – 400

Dubai, UAE, 07 September 2010: The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), announced this morning that the Digital Flight Data Recorder (DFDR) from UPS Boeing 747 - 400 Cargo aircraft was recovered today Tuesday 7th of September at 9: 15 am in a reasonable condition.
The UPS Boeing 747 -400 Cargo aircraft crashed on 3rd September in an unpopulated area in Dubai killing the two crew members.
The Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) was previously recovered on 4th September, approximately 6 hours after the accident. The two recorders will shortly be sent to the USA for analysis.
The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) is the Competent Authority responsible for the investigation of aircraft accidents within the UAE and will send one investigator to USA to work on data recovery with the American investigation team.
The officials will begin removing wreckage of the crashed aircraft from the site tomorrow to transfer it to a secure place.
The investigation team is led by the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), and comprises of 20 experts from GCAA and  from the USA National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), Boeing, FAA  and UPS  , who arrived to Dubai on 5th  September to assist in investigation as requested by UAE.
